ABOUT THE PPG STRENGTH SPORTS PROGRAM

PPG has a well-deserved reputation as the home of strength sports in Plymouth. We have a proven track record when it comes to producing power lifters and strongman/woman competitors across every weight class from complete novices to Drug Free World Champions. We pride ourselves on our friendly, welcoming atmosphere and ability to improve the performance of anyone with a passion for getting stronger!

If you would like to give strength sports a try for the first time or have an ambition to compete against the best at World’s Strongest Man we can help. Even if you have no plans to compete the benefits of training like a strength athlete are huge. With our Strength Sports program you will be able to build functional and effective strength.

What does the PPG Strength Sports Program Involve?

The process for entry into the PPG Strength Sports program depends on your level of experience.

For the complete novice:  Programming is always specific to the individual and a preliminary assessment of your strengths and weaknesses will dictate the type of program you will follow.

The first, most crucial task is to achieve technical mastery and a decent level of strength in the basics: squat, deadlift, bench press and overhead press.

For the strongman enthusiasts technique coaching in the Strongman specific events is introduced as and when the coaches feel you are ready but usually begins early on in the process.

For the More experienced strength athlete: We have a variety of options available to those with some experience of strength training, from fully coached programs and nutritional support to custom programming without instruction.

 Novices are encouraged to join the more experienced lifters in team training sessions where they can pick up valuable hints and tips.
